Eight learners completed our latest ecommerce course at HMP Usk, delivered from 29 September to 1 October with National Lottery funding.
The course builds on our experience of delivering five previous cohorts at the prison. Throughout the course, learners explored ecommerce as a practical route into self-employment after release.
A particular focus was on opportunities that do not rely on face-to-face customer contact, helping participants think about how online trading could fit their circumstances, skills and interests.
The group’s engagement was outstanding. Learners brought ideas, asked thoughtful questions and worked through what their next steps could look like.
One participant wrote:
“The course has opened my eyes to what I can do after prison. What path to take and what stepping stones to use.”
Another commented:
“I found this course empowering on personal and business levels. It has given me hope that I can be successful upon release.”
The course is a starting point rather than the end of our involvement, with continued support available to help learners develop their plans.
We are grateful for the National Lottery funding that made this latest course possible.
